What Causes Female Hair Loss?

Hair loss can affect your scalp or your entire body; it can be temporary or permanent. It can result from genetics, hormonal imbalance, medical conditions, or the aging process. Anyone can lose hair on their head, even women.

Most people typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. When you’re shedding more than approximately 100 hairs a day, you notice some bald spots or the part of your hair is thinning or widening, you’re likely experiencing female pattern hair loss.

Female pattern baldness has several possible causes. Although you can hardly do anything to prevent hair loss, there’s an increased chance that you might respond to treatment if you go to a hair transplant doctor early in the process.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

In the past, hair transplants cut a strip of skin from the back or side of your head and extracted individual hair follicles that were transplanted to balding or thinning areas of your scalp. It was somewhat effective. However, it left an extensive scar at the site of hair removal and resulted in the inaccurate placement of follicles in the recipient site.

With the advent of FUE, the desire for no visible scarring in the donor area turned into a reality. In this procedure, grafts are extracted as individual follicular units, while the process of transplantation remains the same as the traditional “strip” method.

At The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth, Dr. Stefan Thiele selectively harvests small groups of follicular units leaving only minimally invasive pinprick-sized marks behind. These healthy follicles are arranged artistically at the target areas, continuing their growth and delivering natural-looking results.

ATERA FUE System

At The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth, Dr. Thiele and his team of hair restoration experts offer the new and advanced ATERA FUE system that lubricates the root of hair follicles during extraction and keeps them moist until they are ready to be implanted. This increases the survival rate of hair grafts and prevents them from getting damaged. It also has a digital counter that automatically keeps track of the number of harvested grafts.

NeoGraft FUE System

The latest advancement in follicular unit extraction (FUE) technology is the NeoGraft FUE system. This powerful device scans the landscape of your follicles and harvests the most active units. Its precision and potency separates the most efficient samples and collects them safely for utilization on thinning areas of your skin. Learn how the NeoGraft FUE system can revolutionize hair restoration for women, contact us at The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth.

WAW FUE System

The WAW FUE system utilizes a uniquely shaped extraction device, developed to closely mirror the natural shape of the follicular unit. This design allows Dr. Thiele to extract a larger quantity of high-quality grafts without making a bigger incision, thus decreasing the risk of damaging healthy follicular units. He is one of those hair replacement experts who have embraced this revolutionary FUE system.

Ellis FUE System

The Ellis FUE System is a simple and affordable automated punch device that can be used to enhance a strip harvest procedure. It can also be used as a stand-alone device for a full FUE hair transplant. The automation of the conventional FUE procedure contributes to the overall improvement of the method in several ways.

Topical Treatments

Our highly skilled hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Thiele, can help you treat hair loss problems by administering topical treatments such as finasteride and minoxidil. Minoxidil, also known by its brand name Rogaine, dilates blood vessels allowing blood to run smoothly. In this way, it partially expands hair follicles to and lengthens the growth phase of the hair cycle. He also offers finasteride (Propecia) to his patients with male pattern baldness to prevent miniaturization of hair follicles and stop hair loss by decreasing the levels of DHT in the body (the enzyme responsible for hair loss). While finasteride has not been approved by the FDA for female patients due to its possible link to birth defects, some studies show that it can be effective among women.

Injections for Hair Loss

Dr. Thiele can take advantage of your blood to address balding or thinning hair. By drawing a blood sample and purifying it in a centrifuge, your plasma can be separated. Plasma is rich in platelets that are responsible for the clotting mechanism. Together, they form a powerful serum that supports healing. When injected at the site of balding or thinning areas of your scalp, they facilitate your dermal papilla cells at the base of your follicles. When activated, these follicles increase the production of beta-catenin, the protein associated with new hair growth. It supports follicles at their root, increasing your ability to grow natural hair with your cells.

Benefits of Hair Restoration

Hair loss in women frequently has a bigger impact than hair loss does on men because it’s less socially acceptable for them. When you begin to lose your hair, it can severely affect your emotional well-being and quality of life.

In women, androgenetic alopecia starts with progressive thinning at the part line, followed by diffuse hair loss from the top of the head. A woman’s hairline seldom recedes, and women rarely become bald.

At The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth, our distinguished hair restoration doctor, Dr. Stefan Thiele offers the most extensive hair replacement options in Fort Worth. Our state-of-the-art facility and proficiency in hair transplant procedures provide safe and effective solutions to your hair loss concerns.

Eligible Candidates

Dr. Stefan Thiele can determine if you are an eligible candidate for female hair restoration surgery during your initial consultation. If you have healthy hair growth at the back and sides of your head to serve as donor areas, then you may be a good candidate for follicular unit extraction (FUE).

Preparation for Hair Restoration Treatment

During your preliminary consultation, our clinical staff at The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth will give detailed instructions to prepare for whichever hair restoration procedure you choose. We want to ensure your utmost safety at all costs.

You may be asked to:

  • Stop using certain products on your hair weeks before the procedure.
  • Quit smoking for a week before the surgery.
  • Refrain from taking blood thinners that may impede the clotting process.
  • Inform Dr. Thiele of any medications you are taking before receiving any hair restoration treatment.

Recovery and Results

Our patients say they can easily tolerate the pinprick-sized punches needed for FUE hair transplants. You may experience some discomfort, but Dr. Thiele can provide the necessary local anesthesia and post-operative pain medications to help relieve any discomfort.

The hair restoration process is a lifelong journey. Natural ways to grow your hair take a lot of time and effort. Dr. Thiele is committed to monitor your progress and outline a strategic plan to fit your needs. Our raging patient reviews prove that our hair restoration experts at The Hair Transplant Center – Fort Worth can help you achieve hair loss freedom.
